This semester, Azerbaijani visiting scholar Sabina Hoca presented a series of Azerbaijani Cultural Workshops to students in the Turkish Flagship Program. Students in Turkish Flagship spend a summer and an academic year studying Turkish in Baku, Azerbaijan, a brother country to Turkey. The two countries share many linguistic and cultural similarities, making Azerbaijan a great place for Flagship students to study.
During her workshops, Sabina Hoca answered students’ questions about life in Azerbaijan. To help prepare students for their time abroad, she also discussed differences that they might find in the food, the family dynamics, the public transportation, and the education system. Students were excited to learn more about the country, and looked forward to visiting the many cultural sites that Sabina Hoca highlighted.
