Last Sunday, the Turkish Flagship Student Association visited the Islamic Center of Bloomington (ICOB). A Turkish representative from the ICOB gave students a tour of the mosque and explained how Islam in Turkey is unique. Using both Turkish and English, students were able to ask questions and gain a better understanding of the role of Islam in Turkey, as well as the role of the ICOB in the Bloomington community.
After visiting the ICOB, students walked to Anatolia, where they ate a communal Turkish meal. Students discussed what they had learned from the visit and shared advice on how to make the most of their time in Flagship over pide, musakka, hummus, and babaganoush.
