External scholarship resources

The websites below will link you to some of most common types of scholarships and awards, which Turkish Flagship students may be eligible for. This list is by NO means exhaustive, so you are strongly encouraged to do extra research to see what other funding sources might be available to you. Many of the funding opportunities below (such as Boren awards) host info sessions on campus each year so be on the lookout for those.

IU-based funding opportunities for international study

  • Provides merit-based grants of $500-$3,000 for overseas study (summer and academic year) and internships
  • Deadline: For Summer 2017 – March 10, 2017 (Friday before Spring Break at Noon)
  • For Fall 2017 & Academic Year 2017/18 – March 10, 2017 (Friday after Spring Break at Noon)
  • By completing the International Experience Scholarship application, you will also be considered for a number of other selection scholarships, some of which are open only to Hutton Honors College students and students in certain fields

  • Amount of award is determined by length of the program—it is more advantageous to wait until the Capstone year abroad to apply for this funding opportunity
  • Wells and Kelley Scholars are not eligible for any HIEP funding
  • Cox Research Scholars and Herbert Presidential Scholars are only eligible for summer grants, not academic year grants

  • Creative Activity Grant for students pursuing music, art, writing, etc.
  • Up to $1,500 fall/spring semester; $3,000 full year
  • Deadlines same as above

  • $1000 scholarship for student in School of Global and International Studies

  • Students must be eligible to graduate the spring/summer after studying abroad

Learn more about the Won-Joon Yoon Scholarship

  • Only students in the 21st Century Scholars, Groups Scholars, Hudson and Holland Scholars, Academic Support Center and FASE Mentoring programs are eligible to apply
  • Enrolled full-time at IUB, minimum 2.5 GPA, program must be IU-associated program; "Students receiving a full scholarship from another source are not eligible for this study abroad scholarship"
  • Ranging from $500-$4000
  • Deadline: for Fall 2017 programs – mid-May 2017 (tentative)
